The system included by Masterton is a 13.5KW system. This system will always use 13.5KW when it is turned on. This is an expensive system to run. The Daikin 14KW system has a maximum capacity of up to 15KW but when it is not being used at full capacity it will drop to approx 5KW. The Daikin will cost you an extra $3500. Actron air conditioners will drop this usage to 1.44KW when idle. Actron will cost you $5000. I opted for the Actron because they are an Australian company with a good Australian warranty. I also upgraded to three phase power as three phase to air conditioner is included in a standard quote from Masterton. I upgraded to a 20KW system as I didn’t want the air conditioner to struggle when cooling or heating the house. Total cost of upgrades $7000 (ouch, I wasn’t expecting that).
Update: paid an extra $2000 to have 3 additional zones (each bedroom on its own zone) and the remote connection wifi module installed. Total upgrade cost, $9000. how did that happen?
